On November 15, 2018, the Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre hosted a commemorative reception to celebrate the formation of the single national Franciscan province in Canada, as well as the Retreat Centre’s 70 Year Anniversary.
Approximately 60 guests attended the celebration, included members of various religious orders, parish and diocesan supporters, benefactors, and friends and neighbours of the Franciscans.
After a short welcome and introductions, attendees heard from the new Provincial Minister, Br. Pierre Charland about the reasons and outcomes of the unification of the Franciscans of Canada, and learned about the eleven regional Franciscan houses ministering across Canada, including the Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre.
With many neighbours and local community members in attendance, guests also heard about the Franciscans’ aspirations for the Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre to continue serving the community for the another 70 years.
